Founded in 1994 as Disha Financial Services Limited, the company began its journey in the financial services sector. Recognising the immense potential of the emerging digital economy, SIL strategically transformed its business model in 1998, repositioning itself as a technology-driven enterprise under the name Southern Infosys Limited. Subsequently, pursuant to the order of the Hon’ble High Court, the company adopted its present identity, Southern InfoConsultants Limited, reflecting its focused commitment to technology and consulting services.

SIL made its public debut in 1996 with an Initial Public Offering of 50,20,000 equity shares of ₹10 each at par. The issue received an overwhelming response and was oversubscribed, with shares allotted on a pro-rata basis. Today, SIL is a publicly listed company with its equity shares traded on the Delhi, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad Stock Exchanges, underscoring its strong governance, transparency, and investor confidence.
